Hi there,
You are invited to a free Kripalu yoga workshop that will take place at Yoga Haven on Wednesday night from 7:00-8:30 in the upstairs studio.
The workshop will demonstrate gentle and moderately paced Kripalu in preparation for classes to be held weekly at Yoga Haven on Wednesday nights.
Yoga Haven is located in Knoxville in the Bearden area on Forest Ct., which connects from Sutherland Ave. to Mohican off Kingston Pk. (near Gourmet’s Market and Carpe Librum bookstore).
Please visit the schedule page for more complete directions to Yoga Haven in Knoxville.
Please visit the Kripalu Yoga: Moderate page for a detailed class description.
RSVP is not necessary but greatly appreciated. Please enter quietly as there will be a class meeting at the same time in the downstairs studio.
On the morning of Saturday, September 22, 2007, two free yoga workshops will take place at the Ayurveda Center for Natural Healthcare, 665 Emory Valley Road, Suite A, in Oak Ridge, TN.
The workshops are at 9:00 and 11:00. Both workshops will feature a Kripalu Yoga class by Santosh David Morgan and an Interdisciplinary Yoga class by Aubrey Sebastian.
We’re hosting this free morning of yoga in Oak Ridge, TN to build support for our fall yoga classes in Oak Ridge at the Ayurveda Center.
Hope to see you there!
I have several new yoga classes starting this week as well as a free workshop next weekend, so I hope you can join me. Please forward this to any friends that might be interested.
First of all, starting this week I’m offering a Kripalu Yoga Moderate class from 10:00-11:30 Monday mornings at Well by Nature on Bearden Hill in Knoxville. I’m excited about this one — Kripalu Yoga pays attention to physical alignment but goes quickly “within” to check in with the flow of energy in your breath, thoughts, emotions, moving from the gross body and into your subtle body. Think of it as a moving meditation. Most people equate Kripalu Yoga as a very gentle style, but in this class we’re stepping it up a bit. Come prepared to chant, breathe, move, relax and meditate. Drop-in is $15, and class cards are available for discounted class rates.
Next — two more Kripalu Yoga classes Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00-11:30 at Westside Unitarian Church in Farragut. It’s on the corner of Grigsby Chapel Rd. (same road as Parkside Dr. after it crosses Campbell Station) and Fretz Rd. We’re meeting in the sanctuary — really a beautiful space to practice yoga, with a high ceiling and big windows that let in lots of light. This particular class focuses on emotional wellbeing and how that plays into weight loss. So often people torture themselves while trying to lose weight, when really the first thing to do is learn to breathe deeply, relax, and start to accept, forgive, and love oneself. That’s the spiritual journey — and self-care grows directly out of this. The Tuesday class will be very gentle, and Thursdays will be somewhat more moderately paced. The classes are $10 ($8 seniors/students), but I’ll offer you a 2 for the price of 1 deal every time you bring someone new to class. We have a big, beautiful space and I want to fill it up.
Finally, next Saturday, Sept 22, Aubrey Sebastian and I are giving a free Kripalu and Interdisciplinary Yoga open house at the Ayurveda Center for Natural Healthcare in Oak Ridge, TN. We’ll hold the workshop twice, once from 9:00-10:30 and then again from 11:00-12:30, so take your pick of times. This workshop will be the “launch” of the Kripalu Yoga Gentle class I’ll be teaching at the center on Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30, which will cost $15 for drop-ins or $100 for 8 classes.
Please come and bring your friends!
After the free yoga classes at Yoga Haven March 17th (see this post), there will be a Sangita Devi kirtan at 7:00.
According to the flier:
Kirtan, the chanting of sacred sounds, is sung in a call and response style and promotes deep states of tranquility, inner peace and bliss.
