A new Beginner Hatha Yoga class starts this Thursday, October 25 at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Powell/Karns/North Knoxville area.

We meet on the second floor of the Family Life Center, the building next to the church.

I hope to see you there.

I’m sorry to announce the end of morning classes in Farragut, TN. Last week I canceled the Thursday class, this week the Tuesday class bids farewell. They simply weren’t supported.

I hope to bring classes to Concord, Farragut, and Lenoir City, TN again in the future when there is enough interest to keep a class going. Please contact me if you are interested.

Kripalu Yoga class at Yoga Haven in Knoxville, TN off to a great start!

The information in this post may be out of date. See the schedule for current events.

We had a great showing for the moderate Kripalu Yoga class at Yoga Haven in Knoxville, TN last night. I’ll add more classes there over the coming weeks.

The class started with an introduction to Kripalu Yoga, followed by a centering, then pratapana or warmups, and a slow vinyasa punctuated by holding poses modeled around the surya namaskar (sun salutation).

After a few backbends (bridge and fish) was a meditation-in-motion period of free movement, then a nice long deep relaxation, integration through nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), a sitting meditation, and a few nices big OMs to finish it off right.

Thanks to everyone who came, and if you missed it, please come next week. We’ll work on the moon salutation, or chandra namaskar. And in following weeks we’ll target specific energy centers in the body.

Important: We’re changing the time to 7:15 to coordinate with the class downstairs. That way we won’t be talking and making noise while they’re still in relaxation.
