New Kripalu Yoga classes in Knoxville, Farragut and Oak Ridge start this week!

The information in this post may be out of date. See the schedule for current events.

I have several new yoga classes starting this week as well as a free workshop next weekend, so I hope you can join me. Please forward this to any friends that might be interested.

First of all, starting this week I’m offering a Kripalu Yoga Moderate class from 10:00-11:30 Monday mornings at Well by Nature on Bearden Hill in Knoxville. I’m excited about this one — Kripalu Yoga pays attention to physical alignment but goes quickly “within” to check in with the flow of energy in your breath, thoughts, emotions, moving from the gross body and into your subtle body. Think of it as a moving meditation. Most people equate Kripalu Yoga as a very gentle style, but in this class we’re stepping it up a bit. Come prepared to chant, breathe, move, relax and meditate. Drop-in is $15, and class cards are available for discounted class rates.

Next — two more Kripalu Yoga classes Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00-11:30 at Westside Unitarian Church in Farragut. It’s on the corner of Grigsby Chapel Rd. (same road as Parkside Dr. after it crosses Campbell Station) and Fretz Rd. We’re meeting in the sanctuary — really a beautiful space to practice yoga, with a high ceiling and big windows that let in lots of light. This particular class focuses on emotional wellbeing and how that plays into weight loss. So often people torture themselves while trying to lose weight, when really the first thing to do is learn to breathe deeply, relax, and start to accept, forgive, and love oneself. That’s the spiritual journey — and self-care grows directly out of this. The Tuesday class will be very gentle, and Thursdays will be somewhat more moderately paced. The classes are $10 ($8 seniors/students), but I’ll offer you a 2 for the price of 1 deal every time you bring someone new to class. We have a big, beautiful space and I want to fill it up.

Finally, next Saturday, Sept 22, Aubrey Sebastian and I are giving a free Kripalu and Interdisciplinary Yoga open house at the Ayurveda Center for Natural Healthcare in Oak Ridge, TN. We’ll hold the workshop twice, once from 9:00-10:30 and then again from 11:00-12:30, so take your pick of times. This workshop will be the “launch” of the Kripalu Yoga Gentle class I’ll be teaching at the center on Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30, which will cost $15 for drop-ins or $100 for 8 classes.

Please come and bring your friends!
