Here is this month’s yoga schedule:
A beginner series is starting Tuesday, December 11th. Eight classes will be held at Yoga Haven on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:00pm. No class on Christmas day.
(The Moderate Kripalu class currently scheduled at this time will continue until the series begins.)
A series class is ideal for beginning students because every class builds on what you learned the previous week.
You will learn more than a dozen yoga postures and how to do them safely for your body.
Plus you’ll gain an understanding of yoga history and philosophy. You will also learn basic breathing, relaxation, and meditation techniques.
Space is limited, so please register. Or you can make your check payable to Yoga with Santosh and send it to this address:

A second beginner yoga series will start January 8, 2008 at Well by Nature, also on Tuesdays but from 7:15-8:45. To register for the January-February class, please call 865-584-3864.
I’m pleased to announce two new yoga classes that will start in November at Yoga Haven in the Bearden area of Knoxville, TN.
The Kripalu Yoga classes will be held at 5:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class on Tuesday will be moderate in exertion. The Thursday class will be gentle.
Yoga Haven is located at 12 Forest Court, off Sutherland and Mohican. Here are directions to Yoga Haven.
I will also offer classes at 7:15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the near future. Details to come.
For more information about classes on the schedule, private sessions, or Kripalu Yoga in general, please contact me.
A new Beginner Hatha Yoga class starts this Thursday, October 25 at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Powell/Karns/North Knoxville area.
This gentle class assumes no prior yoga knowledge or experience. All ages welcome!
We meet on the second floor of the Family Life Center, the building next to the church.
The class is by donation. The suggested donation is $10 for one class per week or $15 for two, but don’t let money keep you from coming.
I hope to see you there.
I’m sorry to announce the end of morning classes in Farragut, TN. Last week I canceled the Thursday class, this week the Tuesday class bids farewell. They simply weren’t supported.
I hope to bring classes to Concord, Farragut, and Lenoir City, TN again in the future when there is enough interest to keep a class going. Please contact me if you are interested.
We had a great showing for the moderate Kripalu Yoga class at Yoga Haven in Knoxville, TN last night. I’ll add more classes there over the coming weeks.
The class started with an introduction to Kripalu Yoga, followed by a centering, then pratapana or warmups, and a slow vinyasa punctuated by holding poses modeled around the surya namaskar (sun salutation).
After a few backbends (bridge and fish) was a meditation-in-motion period of free movement, then a nice long deep relaxation, integration through nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), a sitting meditation, and a few nices big OMs to finish it off right.
Thanks to everyone who came, and if you missed it, please come next week. We’ll work on the moon salutation, or chandra namaskar. And in following weeks we’ll target specific energy centers in the body.
Important: We’re changing the time to 7:15 to coordinate with the class downstairs. That way we won’t be talking and making noise while they’re still in relaxation.
