The information in this post may be out of date. See the schedule for current events.

A new Beginner Hatha Yoga class starts this Thursday, October 25 at Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Powell/Karns/North Knoxville area.

This gentle class assumes no prior yoga knowledge or experience. All ages welcome!

We meet on the second floor of the Family Life Center, the building next to the church.

The class is by donation. The suggested donation is $10 for one class per week or $15 for two, but don’t let money keep you from coming.

I hope to see you there.

Tuesday morning Farragut, TN class canceled

I’m sorry to announce the end of morning classes in Farragut, TN. Last week I canceled the Thursday class, this week the Tuesday class bids farewell. They simply weren’t supported.

I hope to bring classes to Concord, Farragut, and Lenoir City, TN again in the future when there is enough interest to keep a class going. Please contact me if you are interested.

Yoga Nivas Now Has a Web Site!

After months of procrastination, I finally got Ajeet’s web site up for her. It’s basic, but will do the job till I’m back from Kripalu and can spend some more time on it to make it more functional and better looking. Because you know — life’s all about looking good.

To find out more about Kundalini yoga classes and deep intuitive healing, please visit Yoga with Ajeet’s new site at www.yoganivas.com.

Buddhist Stupa Comes to East Tennessee

The information in this post may be out of date. See the schedule for current events.

I’m in shock. Impressed. Ecstatic. A Tibetan Buddhist stupa and retreat center is coming to Blount County, Tennessee.

Here’s the email I just received from Prasad:

Dear Friends, Supporters and Sangha of MOCD,

Dr. Jeffrey Davis and I are inviting you to the land where our retreat will be built under the direction of Lama Norlha Rinpoche on Saturday March 24th at about 11am. We will be doing a Fire Puja. This is an offering ceremony that we do weekly. It takes about 30 minutes for the ritual/puja. Please come a few minutes early.

Directions —- www.mocd.org

For those of you who have not been to Dharma Dzong and are interested in the celebration and practices that we will be doing there, the weekend of May 4 - 6, this is also a good opportunity to be on the land and get acquainted.

After the puja, Jeffrey will walk the land sharing our plans and what we are wanting to accomplish. Please let your friends know about this as well. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get to Happy Valley from almost anywhere in Knoxville.

For those going to the IONS Meeting at the Oasis Institute at 3pm, there is plenty of time to do both activities. I am planning to be at Oasis later that day as well. www.oasisinstitute.org

I hope to see many of you on the 24th.

Please forgive me if you receive this notice more than once.

Blessings and Light,
Prasad
May you have Deep Peace & Light,

Welcome to yoga knoxville

Hi there. I’m a local Knoxville yoga practitioner. I’m pretty serious about it, even though I’m more or less a newbie and my postures don’t look much like Rodney Yee’s. That doesn’t stop me.

Kripalu Yoga is my favorite Hatha style, but there are no regular Kripalu classes here. That has led me to want to do Kripalu Yoga Teacher’s Training.

Eventually I’ll use this site to keep you informed about my yoga classes, but until then, there are a surprising number of good teachers in the Knoxville area, and a few of the yoga studios here sponsor workshops for visiting master yogis and yoginis that anyone can attend. I’d like to keep you informed.

I’d also like to share random thoughts and experiences from my yoga practice, and I’d like to hear about yours, too, in the comments section.

Let’s get started building a cohesive yoga community in Knoxville, starting with some feedback from you. Comments, please…

What is your favorite style of yoga? What makes it special for you?
