About | Kripalu Yoga, Sivananda Yoga, and Nia classes and private lessons in Knoxville, TN

“Santosh,” a shortened form of the Sanskrit word santosha, means “contentment” or “fulfillment.”

We adopted this name because it embodies what we have received from the practice of yoga, and what we hope to share with you.

We are a married “happy yoga couple.” By day, David is a writer and Internet guy, and Julie is a sign-language interpreter. To us, yoga is a way of life more than a set of stretches we teach for money.

David is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher who came to yoga on the psychological-philosophical path but fell in love with the physical discipline. He has years of meditation experience and has a degree in religion from Middlebury College. He specializes in one-on-one, personalized yoga sessions to meet the seeker’s needs.

Julie is a certified Sivananda Yoga teacher who came to yoga from a fitness perspective but fell in love with the meditative, devotional aspects of yoga. Yoga rounds out her already full schedule of teaching Nia and Zumba. Julie specializes in teaching to populations with distinct needs, like yoga for people with multiple sclerosis, and people prone to repetitive strain injuries, like her fellow sign-language interpreters. Julie has a degree in human services from the University of Tennessee.

Both David and Julie really love watching yoga take effect in seekers’ lives, and it does so in many ways: weight loss, increased self-esteem, feelings of wholeness, and contentment.
